Frances Celeste Burroughs Family Photos
This site's families include Burroughs, Simcoe, Dillon, Dillon, Greer, Longest, Dishman and Monroe. These families lived in Richmond VA, New Kent VA, Westmoreland VA, Mathews VA and KY.

Circa 1870 photo of Parthenia Spilman who was born in 1820. She was a preacher's wife and the mother of seven. She was Frances's mother's mother. She died in 1896 when Frances was four.

Circa 1920 photo of Ada Leftwich Burroughs. She was affectionately known as Aunt Ada and was the Burroughs' Richmond home provider. She was the business manager of the Methodist Orphanage of Richmond for many years. She must have followed the lead of her preacher Grandfather Simcoe, because she was very strict allowing no alcohol in her home.

Circa 1918 photo of Willie Patrick Burroughs in his World War I uniform. He was Frances' younger and only adult brother. Willie never married.
Circa 1920 photo of Georgie Ashton Burroughs. She was a seven years younger sister of Francis. She became Mrs. Charles Alfred Petersen and lived to age 92.
Circa 1920 photo of Aunt Lou (Louise Hazel Burroughs). She was a eleven years younger sister of Francis. She became Mrs. Clarence Hunter Scales and lived to age 92.

Circa 1950 photo of Grandmother Burroughs (Carrie Adele Simcoe) who was born in 1860. She was Frances and the Aunts' mother. She outlived her husband by 40 years, living to be 91.
