King Edward I OF ENGLAND also went by the name of Longshanks. He was born on 17 June 1239 at Westminster, London, Middlesex, England. He married Princes Eleonor CASTILE AND LEON on 18 October 1254 at Burgos, Burgos, Spain. He died on 7 July 1307 at Burgh-On-The-Sands, Cumberland, England, at age 68.

Princes Eleonor CASTILE AND LEON was born in 1244 at Burgos, Burgos, Spain. She married King Edward I OF ENGLAND on 18 October 1254 at Burgos, Burgos, Spain. She died on 29 November 1290 at Herdeby, Lincolnshire, England.

Princess Joan OF ENGLAND also went by the name of Joan of Acre. She was born in 1272 at Acre, Holy Land. She married Gilbert DE CLARE on 30 April 1290 at Westminister Abbey, Westminster, London, Middlesex, England. She married Ralph DE MONTHERMER between January 1296 and 1297 at Akko, Hazafon, Israel. She died on 23 April 1307 at Clare, Suffolk, England.

Capt. John WOODLIEF. (Note: Attached to the Virginia Company in 1609. Arrived in Virginia before 1620). He was born before 27 December 1584 at Peterley Manor, Prestwook, Buckinghanshire, England. He married Mary ARCHARD on 1 May 1609 at Steventon, Buckinghamshire, England. He emigrated on 4 December 1619; He signed an agreement on 4/9/1619 to settle an 8000 acre plantation in Virginia to be known as Berkeley Hundred, and to act as Captain and Governor, sailing with detailed instructions from the London Company. He sailed from Kingrode, Bristol on Sept. 15, 1619 in the Margaret(47 tons) with 38 settlers, arriving on December 4. Already in Virginia were his wife, two children, and four indentured servants. On landing they held a Thansgiving service according to instructions (and for perpetual celebration), a service still held on the first Sunday of November (thanks to the work of Pearl Woodlief Blackley). His commission as Captain and Governor was revoked 28/8/1620 because of lack of quick profits and he was relieved by George Thorpe. Thus he was not present at Berkeley when the Indians attacked and killed the settlers at Easter in 1622. He lived circa 1625 at Sion Hall on James River, VA; He secured a patent from Sir George Yardley for 550 acres in the Great Weyanoke where he established Sion Hill. His land bordered the James River between Jordan's Journey on the east and included the present Evergreen on the west. He died in 1637 at VA.

Mrs. Mary LEDBETTER. (Note: English Colonial Immigrant). She was born circa 1600 at Durham, England. She married Thomas LEDBETTER in 1624 at Durham, England. She died after 1673 at Charles City, VA.

Thomas LEDBETTER. (Note: Was the first Ledbetter ancestor to immigrate to America and an early English Colonial Immigrant). He was born in 1600 at Durham, England. He married Mrs. Mary LEDBETTER in 1624 at Durham, England. He died in 1655 at Bristol Parish, Charles City, VA.

Robert WYNN. (Note: English Colonial Immigrant). He married Mrs. Mary WYNN. He was born circa 1610 at Canterbury, Kent, England. He died on 15 August 1678 at Jordan's Parish, Charles City, VA.

Edward MOSS. (Note: English Colonial Immigrant). He was born in 1610 at Lancaster, Lancashire, England. He married Ann BELT on 20 September 1632 at Lancaster, Lancashire, England. He died on 1 July 1685 at York, VA.

Capt John WOODLIEF Jr married Mary WYNNE, daughter of Robert WYNN and Mrs. Mary WYNN. He was born in 1614. He was A Burgess for Charles City in 1652 at Charles City, VA. He began military service in 1661 at Charles City, VA, Capt Lt. commanding County Regiment. He died circa 1676 at VA; Participated and died as a rebel in Bacon's Rebellion.

Peter RANSONE. (Note: Early colonial birth). He was born in 1620 at Elizabeth City, VA.

William Henry MOSS. (Note: English Colonial Immigrant). He was born between 1633 and 1635 at Lancashire, Lancaster, England. He married Jane NORTH, daughter of Dudley NORTH and Anne MONTAGUE, in 1661 at Lancashire, Lancaster, England. He died on 21 April 1685 at Rappahannock, VA.

Robert HOPKINS. (Note: Early colonial birth). He was born circa 1635 at Rappahannock, VA. He died on 6 May 1677 at Rappahannock, VA.

Jane NORTH. (Note: English Colonial Immigrant). She was born in 1643 at Tostock, Suffolk, England. She married William Henry MOSS, son of Edward MOSS and Ann BELT, in 1661 at Lancashire, Lancaster, England. She died in 1676 at Rappahannock, VA.

Peter FAURE. (Note: French Colonial Immigrant). He was also known as Pierre FORE. He was also known as FORD. He was born after 1680 at St. Sever, France. He married Mary Elizabeth AGEE circa 1696 at Goochland, VA. He died on 16 April 1745 at King William Parish, Goochland, VA.

James MOSS was born on 6 September 1760 at Cumberland, VA. He began military service on 5 March 1777 at VA Private 9th Regiment Virginia under Captain Woodson. 5 March 1777 name first appears on company payroll.

He married Judith GARROT on 5 August 1785 at Powhatan, VA. He was awarded Revolutionary war pension on 4 March 1831. He died on 20 September 1845 at Prince Edward, VA, at age 85.

John Wiley Alexander LEDBETTER was born on 29 March 1827 at Appomattox, VA. He was Farmer circa 1856 at Appomattox, VA. He lived circa 1856 at Pamplin, Appomattox, VA; Wife's Davis family may have given them the home. He married Margaret Elizabeth DAVIS, daughter of Peter DAVIS and Frances Hannah RANSON, on 13 November 1856 at Hampden Sydney College, Prince Edward, VA. He began military service on 5 August 1863 at Charlotte, VA, Enlisted as a Private in Company K, 18th Infantry Regiment Virginia. Described as having a light complexion, blue eyes with dark hair. He was 5 feet 9.9 inches tall. He ended military service on 12 August 1864 at General Hospital, Farmville, VA; Wounded on 16 May 1864 at Drewry's Bluff, VA and left arm amputated. From his "FORM FOR RETIRING A SOLDIER" he was retired from company K, 18th VA Regiment as a Private, in the army of the Confederate States. He Applied for and received $30 per year Solder Pension from VA. Served in 18th VA Regiment, Hunters Brigade, Pickett's Division. Justification: "On or about 16th May1864, wounded in battle of Dreweys Bluff between Beauregard and Buttler Commands. Was disabled by grape canister above the left risk, which necessitated immediate amputation just below left elbow". Age was given as 61 on 21 March 1888 at Lynchburg, Campbell, VA. He died on 18 October 1896 at Roanoke, VA, at age 69. He was buried after 18 October 1896 at Fairview Cemetery, Roanoke, VA.

Temple Thomas DAVIS was born on 26 February 1837. He began military service on 3 June 1862 at Charlotte, VA, Enlisted as a Private on 03 June 1862 in Charlotte County, VA in Company K, 18th Infantry Regiment. POW on 03 July 1863 at Gettysburg, PA. Died as a prisoner on 07 April 1864 in Point Lookout, MD. He died on 7 April 1864 at Point Lookout, MD, at age 27.

Peter John DAVIS was born on 26 September 1841 at Prince Edward, VA. He began military service on 3 June 1862 at Charlotte, VA, Company K, 18th Infantry Regiment. POW on 03 July 1863 at Gettysburg, PA. Exchanged on 12 December 1863 at Fort Delaware, DE. Returned to duty on 15 September 1864. Surrendered on 09 April 1865 in Appomattox Court House, VA. He married Betty BERKLEY on 21 December 1870. He died after 1880.

Royal Aubrey LEDBETTER Sr was buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk, VA. He was born on 2 June 1888 at Amherst, VA; Mother probably went to her home to have birth where she could get family help. He married Francis Celeste BURROUGHS, daughter of John Thomas BURROUGHS and Carrie Adele SIMCOE, on 1 June 1911 at Washington, DC. He lived before 1925 at 3314 Lyons, Norfolk, VA; This was the principle residence for his Family. His retirement years were at 1793 Hancock Avenue. He was Building Contractor circa 1940 at Norfolk, VA. He was retired circa 1953 at Norfolk, VA. He died on 6 April 1969 at Norfolk, VA, at age 80.
