Left is a very early (Circa 1850) photo of Gersham
Tussey (born 1801 in Rowan NC). Gersham was William David Tussey's
Great-Grandfather. Gersham and Sarah Elizabeth Byerly had six
children with David Allison being the third. He died in 1863
in Lexington NC. |
| Right is circa 1900 photo of Eliza Clodfelter
Tussey Evans (born 1838). Eliza was William David Tussey's Grandmother.
When Eliza was 25 her husband David Allison Tussey died (Warrenton
VA in 1863) while serving in the Confederate army. She was left
with three young sons. She remarried Alexander Evans in 1866.
Alexander became father and grandfather to two generations of
Tussey's. |

Left is a circa 1905 photo of Eliza and family
at the Old Tussey home place believed to have been built by
David Allison Tussey in 1861. Eliza continued to live here after
David's death. The family from left to right are unknown man,
Alexander Evans (Eliza's
second husband), Julian Wagoner, Eliza, Possible Eliza and Alexander
Daughter and wife of Julian Wagoner, Blanche Wagoner, Joseph
(Joe) Allison Tussey (William's father), Betty (Joe's second
wife), and William Franklin (Frank) Tussey. This photo was likely
taken at one of Eliza's brother's funeral. |
| Right is a circa 1905 photo of William's father
Joseph Allison Tussey. Joseph was born in 1861 in Davidson NC.
He married Mary Elizabeth Brasington and they had two sons,
William David and James Samuel. He and Elizabeth separated in
1882. He married Elizabeth Baily in 1901. He died in Greensboro
NC in 1954. |

Brasington, William David Tussey's mother. She was born in 1860
in Lexington NC. She married Joseph Allison Tussey in 1878.
She died in Greensboro NC in 1930. |
Circa 1920 photo of Mary Elizabeth Brasington
and her second husband J. C. Tise. They were married in circa
1890. For several years they lived with her son William David
Tussey's family in Norfolk VA. |

Left is a circa 1920 photo of Joseph Allison Tussey
and his son James Samuel. James was the only sibling of William
David. His family called James uncle Jim. James was born in
1882 and died in 1972 so both brothers reach their 90th year. |

and Emma). Top left is Dahlia, Hyacinth. Bottom left is Virginia
then Grace. After his first two daughter's William stated that
he did not want to raise flowers, so the later daughters had
more conventional names. |
