Cherie Burgess Shindell’s Autobiography stated "According to the Sunday’s Roanoke World: "’Bevey Hall’ the country home of Mr. And Mrs. Charles Bradshaw near Martinsville, Va ., was the scene of a pretty home wedding Thursday, November l4th when their daughter, Florence Lucette Bradshaw, was married to John Abe Burgess, of Ridgeway, Va."

There is a picture of the family that is believed to be on the front porch of Bevey Hall on the day of Florence and John’s wedding.
